    • Celebration of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar on 14th April 2016
      Indian Embassy organised a Reception at Red Cross Hall, Oslo to celebrate 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar on 14th April, 2016 from 1700-1900 hrs. About 150 invitees including Diplomatic Corps (Ambassadors) in Oslo, representatives from Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade, University of Oslo and Indian diaspora members attended the event. Ambassador delivered a 25-minute speech on "Indian Constitution and Democracy". Mr. Tore Schei, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Norway was the "Guest of Honour" and delivered a speech on "Norway's Constitution and Judiciary". A Sitar and Tabla recital was performed by Ms. Rohini Sahajpal and Mr. Shri Lal at the end of the function.

      Mr. Tore Schei spoke highly of India's Constitution & Judiciary and his interactive experiences with Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court during his study tour of the Indian judicial system in 2008. The participants in general were highly appreciative of India's Constitution and Democracy. Many of them also appreciated India's efforts to inform an international audience how the Indian Constitution was formulated; the pivotal role of Dr. Ambedkar and strengths of India's democracy.

    • Know India Programme(KIP)
      Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is organizing the next edition of Know India Programme (KIP) to familiarize Indian Diaspora youth with India?s culture, heritage and also with contemporary India. KIP will be for a duration of Duration of 25 days, of which participants will spend nearly 10 days in a select State. Focus of next KIP will be ?Maharashtra State?, and is scheduled from 05 May to 01 June, 2016.

    RESCHEDULING OF 2ND RENEWABLE ENERGY GLOBAL INVESTORS? MEET & EXPO (RE ? INVEST) TO 14 - 16 MARCH, 2017.

    Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is organizing the next edition of Know India Programme (KIP) to familiarize Indian Diaspora youth with India?s culture, heritage and also with contemporary India. KIP will be for a duration of Duration of 25 days, of which participants will spend nearly 10 days in a select State. Focus of next KIP will be ?Maharashtra State?, and is scheduled from 05 May to 01 June, 2016. Tentative programme is enclosed at Annexure-I.

    The highlight of this year?s KIP is a tour of Maharashtra, on board the luxury train "Deccan Odyssey", thanks to the support of the State Government of Maharashtra.

    This programme is open only for Indian origin Diaspora youth in age group of 18-26 years. NRIs are not eligible. Preference would be given to PIOs who have not visited India so far.

    Completed application forms in original should be submitted by PIOs to Embassy of India, Oslo before 5th April 2016. Selected participants have to purchase their flight ticket for their journey from the country of residence to India and back, as per schedule prescribed by the Ministry. Embassy of India would reimburse 90% (ninety percent) of the total cost of air ticket (at lowest economy excursion fare) to participants on successful completion of the programme by them.     Nalanda University School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions

    Applications for Admission are invited for 2016-17
    Nalanda University, established at Rajgir (Bihar) is an international institution of academic excellence under an Act of Parliament administered by the Ministry of External Affairs of India. The University was formally inaugurated by the External Affairs Minister on 19 September 2014. Two Schools of Studies, viz., School of Historical Studies and School of Ecology & Environment Studies, set up in a temporary campus, have already started functioning.

    The University is now introducing teaching in the third School of Studies, viz., School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions from 2016-17. The admissions process for the academic year 2016-17 has already commenced.

    HAPPENING HARYANA INVESTORS SUMMIT 2016 7-8 MARCH 2016

    1. Government of Haryana, in partnership with CII, is organising ?Happening Haryana Investors? Summit 2016? on 7 ? 8 March 2016 at Hotel Leela Ambience, Gurgaon. The objective of the Summit is to bring together investors, decision makers, senior Government officials and local business community for a concrete dialogue on investment opportunities and business environment in Haryana. This Summit will be an unprecedented event with strategic Sectoral Sessions, Round Table deliberations, technical presentations, partnerships, and one-to-one Business Meetings.

    2. This Summit will be followed by Pravasi Haryana Divas on Wednesday, 9th March 2016 at the same venue. The Summit intends to have participation from NRIs from Haryana origin which will also include felicitation of prominent Pravasi Haryanavis? who have contributed significantly towards building brand of Haryana.

    4. Haryana is one of the most industrially progressive states in the country. The strategic advantage of the State surrounding the National capital, Delhi from three sides and with 60% area falling within the NCR and more than 10 national highways criss-crossing the State, is unique to the State of Haryana. It is also home to the headquarters of more than 100 fortune 500 companies. Haryana is a leading producer of number of products including four wheelers, two wheelers, cranes, excavators, tractors, footwear and sanitary ware etc.

    5. The industrial growth of the State has been consistently high and the State enjoys eminent position of having one of the highest per capita income amongst the major states.     We are glad that the Government of Indiahas announced development of 100 Smart cities to provide a creative and stimulating environment for SMART CITY development as global role models in urban settlement. Following this announcement, the country is all set to become the World Capital of Smart Cities and largest hub of modern city systems. This opens the floodgates to mega opportunities for global giants, in numerous fields. To jump-start the process of realizing the goals of SMART CITIES, ASSOCHAM has constituted ?Smart Cities India Forum? to facilitate implementation, partnership and promotion of various SMART CITY endeavors. India is urbanizing at an unprecedented rate as the estimates suggest that 600 million of Indians will be living in cities by 2030.

    The State of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has embarked on an initiative to create a forum for building a progressive, effective and deliverable mechanism to establish beneficial relations and moving forward to make Uttar Pradesh a more progressive land, which is also a land of opportunities with a support of the Indian diaspora who have successfully established themselves across the globe.

    2. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a number of initiatives towards engaging with the UP diaspora and it has already established a full-fledged NRI Department which looks into the issues of the NRIs/ PIOs striving towards building a meaningful relationship with the State. The role of new Department of NRI Affairs is to involve the NRIs and PIOs in the mainstream of the development in the State. A new website www.upnri.com has been launched to keep the diaspora from U.P. abreast of the latest developments taking place in the State.

    3. As a major initiative to further the continuing dialogue with the NRIs, the Government of Uttar Pradesh is organising its first ?UP PRAVASI DIWAS? on 4th ? 6th January 2016 at Hotel ITC Mughal, Agra. ?UP Pravasi Diwas? (UPPD) will be chaired by Hon?ble Chief Minister, Shri Akhilesh Yadav who will be accompanied by other state ministers and top government officials at this event. The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) are partners in the event, while Ernst and Young are knowledge partners. The UPPD has been planned to be an annual event to be held on the same dates every year.
